Hello! My name is Chelsey, I am a mother to five, have been homeschooling for eight years, and love to read and garden. I have been blogging on and off over the last 15 years. I started new blogs every couple of years and only posted a few times on each. It was great fun when I did it. Then, I took quite a few years off, only doing book reviews as I needed to. The itch to start blogging again has gotten strong over the last couple of years. So here I am beginning again. Will I have anything that others don’t have? I don’t know and not sure I care. I want to be able to have something I can look back on and say ‘oh remember that!’ Or ‘there is that recipe’.
My plans for this site are to not only blog about life and things I am learning but also compile a great resource for recipes, herbal remedies, and garden things. Another big thing I want to add to this site is a book index/resource. We read a TON of books in this house. I want to be able to give reviews, categorize them by age and themes, as well as add content information and warnings. It has been so difficult finding great books, especially new ones, without them sneaking in topics that just are not meant for children. I’ll list all that here and even give specifics of where they might appear. If there are some topics that you would like to see as a warning, let me know, and I’ll be sure to add those in as well!
I am currently sitting here watching Shark Tank and slightly fuming about my packages being marked delivered but are nowhere in site. I have to give them till tomorrow at 4 pm to report them missing. Hopefully, they come, if they don’t, hopefully, the reorder will get them here by Christmas. I usually have everything ordered and here by November so that I can miss all this crazy holiday delivery stuff. But this year, I dropped the ball and ordered everything on black Friday.
Creating a Balanced Homeschooling Schedule
This week we have been plugging through school. We are on week 15 out of 32 I believe. Things are going great. This is the first year I vowed to myself to commit to a curriculum and carry it out without purchasing any more in the middle of the year and switching it out. I tend to see all these cute new things come out and think, ‘Hmm, that looks better, let’s try it’. Maybe I’ll make a few posts on what we use as a family and then what each child uses for their grades. Oh and a post on how I plan and what I use to make my planning SUPER easy! Once upon a time, I uploaded a few curriculum videos to YouTube. You can see them here. I just renamed it so it matched the blog name.
That is all the thoughts I had today. I’ll leave you with things I am currently doing this week.
Currents
Currently Reading: I just finished The Frozen River 10/10 (historical fiction, adult, trigger warnings related to rape, it does not go into detail just mentions it as part of the story of characters and the time period)
Currently Doing: Making large 21-inch stockings for all seven of us using this tutorial.
Currently Watching: Cooking competition shows on Hulu. We scored the $ .99-a-month deal over black Friday!
Currently Eating: I am making my way through the Gluten Free Menu Plan from Passionate Penny Pincher. Four out of the seven of us can’t eat anything with gluten. I LOVE her menu plans. The bundle is worth it if you can get it on sale.
Thanks for stopping by!
